Peridot, the birthstone of August, is a soft, lime green gem stone. Often associated with peace, good fortune and happiness, this gemstone primarily come from Egypt and was often worn by the ancient Pharaohs. Also know as the 'Gem of the sun', the Peridot makes for an ideal 16th anniversary gift and for good reason. With the ability to ward off Evil and nightmares, while also bestowing peace, loyalty, and commitment to ones love life.

Traditionally a lime green color, the Peridot mixes very well with platinum's and silvers. The stone belongs to the Forsterite-Fayalite mineral group, which means its color comes from the composition of the mineral itself as opposed to impurities in which more other stones acquire their color. Due to this, the stone is purely one color, and only varies with slightly different shades of green, and sometime with a hint of yellow.
